I went with two friends, Ron and Sara Karliner. The first leg was from Wolverton Trailhead to Pear Lake. We camped there the first night, then ventured into the Tableland. Our second campsite was at Tableland Meadow. On the third day, we crossed Pterodactyl Pass and camped near a pine grove below Lonely Lake and Elizabeth Pass.

Our original plan was to ascend that pass and travel from Deadman Canyon over Coppermine Pass into Cloud Canyon. From there, we intended to cross Lion Lake Pass and Lion Rock Pass, into Nine Lakes Basin. We then planned to descend Kaweah Gap and take the High Sierra Trail to Crescent Meadow. This is a great route, but it will have to wait for another day with us.

Excessive pack weight, a last minute mixup in the trip complement and inadequate physical conditioning on my part persuaded us to modify our route. Instead of ascending Elizabeth Pass, we descended to Lone Pine Creek and followed it to Tamarack Lake. After camping there the fourth night, we hiked to the High Sierra Trail at Bearpaw Meadow. We took the HST to Nine Mile Creek, where we made our final camp. Our trip ended at Crescent Meadow, where we were able to get a park shuttle ride back to Wolverton. Our car was covered with muddy bear tracks, following the obligatory ursine inspection.

Enjoy the pictures!
